“The Runaway” appeared on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post in 1958.

The artist American artist Norman Rockwell painted this picture from life – and the fine-assed cop was 29-year-old Massachusetts state trooper Staff Sgt Richard Clemens Jr.

The image is an American iconic and often mocked.
